House Family Vineyards’ Conditional Use Permit (CUP) will go to vote with the Saratoga City Council on Wednesday May 7th, 2025, 7pm. This vote will determine whether our family business can continue to be open to the public. This is the final step in the process. The permit has the full support of city staff and won a unanimous vote on April 7, 2025 from the Saratoga Planning Commission to approve the permit. 

House Family Vineyards (HFV) is a family-run vineyard and winery founded by Dave House in 1998. Partnered with Jim Cargill, Winemaker and Family, Dave and Jim continue to champion the agricultural heritage that makes Saratoga unique. It is located on property that is home to 13 family members, representing 4 generations. HFV grows grapes, makes wine, and sells wine, along with offering public wine tastings and private wine tastings and events. 

Your in-person support will emphasize to the Saratoga City Council that you back HFV's application for a CUP. It shows you support House Family Vineyards as an asset to the community and that it should be open to everyone in Saratoga. Without a CUP, we cannot open to the public, and Saratoga risks losing a valued community facility and one of its few remaining family-run agricultural treasures.

In addition the approval of the CUP grants us the ability to remain open during the required improvements on the fire access/fire exit roads, as well as construction/fireproofing of Vineyard Point.

NOTE: The approval of the CUP grants us the ability to remain open during the required improvements on the fire access/fire exit roads, as well as construction/fireproofing of Vineyard Point. This will take some time to complete. We hope to have the improvements done in 3-6 months, at which time we will return our operation to Vineyard Point and celebrate!
