This Syrah is 98% Syrah and 2% Viognier, and a great example of the quality that comes from not only the Coastview Vineyard, but Monterey County as well. With a return to drought in 2017 the balance of cumulative stress and respite from the previous vintage produces a deeper more complex and tightly wound wine. The addition of the Viognier being cofermented with the Syrah enhances all the subtleties making it a more vibrant and intense wine to add to the historic elegance and finnesse of this vineyard. A classic Syrah bouquet of Black and Red summer fruits, bakers chocolate, fine herbs, and savory meats that are mirrored on the palate with a seamless layering of complexities, a vibrant acidity, and a flinty mineral finish that speaks to the limestone in the soil structure. This exceptional wine will continue to age beautifully for the next 12 to 16 years.
